We are along the road that connects Forte dei Marmi and the Versilia sea with Garfagnana. The area is that of Isola Santa, 30 minutes more or less from Massa and about 15/20 minutes from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, the capital of the green geographical region, as well as a beautiful medieval town in the upper valley of the Serchio river. An area famous for its naturalistic and historical-cultural destinations.
Garfagnana is a historical and geographical area in the province of Lucca, the extreme edge of Tuscany, about 45 minutes by car or train from Lucca.
Close to the other art cities of Tuscany and the Cinque Terre, destinations reachable with easy day trips and return to the resort in the evening to enjoy spectacular sunsets and after the play of light in Versilia that rises up to draw and silhouette the now dark Apuan peaks!
HOW TO GET THERE:
Once we have identified our location in Garfagnana, there are various options available to reach us, also dictated by how much you want to use the motorway network, coming from all directions.
- exiting the motorway at Massa, from Versilia in general, thanks to the Passo Del Cipollaio you can reach us in more or less 30 minutes, enjoying the unique landscape of the Apuan Alps Park.
- by exiting the motorway at Capannori, you will avoid the excessive city traffic around the walls of the beautiful city of Lucca, which is worth a visit but unfortunately does not have a ring road and you must therefore completely bypass the walls, with traffic that can be chaotic at times.
Once you exit the motorway, follow your Google Maps App or other navigator, helping yourself if necessary with the signs that first indicate " Garfagnana " and then after crossing the Serchio with the Ponte dalla Chiesa, to go up the valley along the river with the Lodovica road, always keeping the river at your side up to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana.
Be careful, avoid the main road because it goes up the river on the opposite side, crossing a myriad of villages with considerable local traffic.
Once you arrive in the main town of Garfagnana, follow the signs for Arni or Versilia, you will avoid the centre and in just over 15 minutes, you will be in Isola Santa and subsequently you will go up towards the Ceragetta resort.
Arriving from the north, if you are willing to use mountain passes in the last stretch of the road, you can count on Pradarena and Passo delle Radici.
From Liguria, Cinque Terre, and the Cisa motorway, exit at Aulla to cross Lunigiana to the Carpinelli Pass and descend into Garfagnana. Alternatively, exit at Massa and follow the "Mare Monti" route through the Apuan Alps Park, mentioned above.
